MCA阻燃剂阻燃原理分析

MCA melamine cyanurate, also known as melamine cyanurate ester, is a nitrogen-containing halogen-free environmentally friendly flame retardant. The product is a white fine powder, which has economic, efficient, excellent electrical and mechanical properties, no discoloration, low smoke, and low corrosiveness. At the same time, it is low toxic, safe for users, compatible with the environment, and has good thermal stability, making it very suitable for material processing.
  1. Flame retardant principle
Melamine cyanurate (MCA) sublimates and absorbs heat, reducing the surface temperature of the polymer and eliminating air. It can accelerate droplet dissolution, thereby taking away heat and combustibles, changing the thermal oxidative degradation process to quickly carbonize and form non combustible carbonaceous materials. These carbonaceous materials cover the surface of the substrate due to expansion and foaming, forming an isolation layer that blocks contact with air and the escape of combustibles, effectively preventing the continuous combustion of the material. At the same time, the non combustible gases produced by decomposition cause the material to expand and form an expansion layer, which greatly reduces thermal conductivity and is conducive to the self extinguishing of the material upon ignition.
2. Application scope
MCA is used as an effective flame retardant, mainly for electrical and electronic devices made of polyamide or TPU (connectors, switches, housings, etc.). In unfilled compounds or mineral filled compounds, its flame retardant effect can reach UL94 V-0. In fiberglass filling systems, the flame retardant level of UL94 V-2 can also be achieved.
3. Product Features
(1) MCA series halogen-free flame retardants have obvious advantages in fire safety, such as low smoke density, weak smoke toxicity, and weak corrosiveness.
(2) The highest sublimation temperature of MCA is 440 ℃, so it has high temperature resistance and good thermal stability in processing engineering.
(3) The addition amount of MCA is relatively low, and compared with compounds containing halogen/antimony flame retardant systems, it has good economic and mechanical properties.
(4) Weaker corrosiveness has significant advantages during the processing stage and in the event of a fire.
